Description

This Paul Cardew Design Rise & Shoeshine Brown Betty teapot turns an everyday shoe-cleaning scene into a detailed ceramic display piece. Its rounded, glossy dark-brown body is topped with a sculpted patterned cloth and a miniature shoeshine kit.

Look closely at the lid to find tan-coloured boots, brushes, polish tins marked brown and black, a compartmented tray and a tin labelled “Price's Tacks”. The cream cloth has black squiggles and touches of blue, red and orange, contrasting with the deep brown glaze below.

Display it on a kitchen dresser or alongside other novelty teapots, where the little workshop details can be appreciated from different angles.
