Description
A wonderfully nostalgic Paul Cardew “Toy Box” one-cup collector’s teapot, transforming a miniature toy chest into a charming display piece. Measuring 13cm from the tip of the spout to the tip of the handle, this is the compact one-cup design rather than a full-size teapot.
The warm cream and peach-toned chest is decorated with delicate green leafy borders and tiny colourful flowers, with moulded panel details and a gold-coloured drawer knob adding to its furniture-like appearance. A little doll with yellow hair, a blue skirt and black shoes sits against the front, her legs dangling over the edge.
A cheerful gathering of sculpted toys fills the top: a golden-yellow teddy bear, a red-uniformed toy soldier with a tall hat, a white aeroplane with blue-and-red roundels, and a green toy vehicle with gold-coloured details. A miniature snakes-and-ladders board completes the playful scene, bringing memories of nursery shelves and childhood games to life.
